Amendment Styling (Display setting)
When jurisdictions adopted publications as ratified codes, they may do so with or without making amendments to those publications. UpCodes offers Amendment Styling to help users easily identify any amendments made by a jurisdiction. This is a display setting only and is universally applied to all the codebooks available to you on UpCodes, when viewing the library in your account.
You can access Amendment Styling by clicking the Settings button next to the codebook name on the codebook page.
Here is a summary of the Amendment Styling options available:
Amended : Green. Deleted sections : Red
This setting will display amended content in a green font, and display deleted content in a red font, which will also be struck out. An example of this view is shown below.
Same color as base code text
This setting will display amended content in the same font color as the rest of the non-amended content. An example of this view is shown below.
Amended sections only
This setting will only allow you to view amended content within the codebook. Amended/deleted content styling will be per the Amended : Green. Deleted sections : Red selection. Non-amended content will not be visible, even though the chapters and sections in the codebook index are clickable.
Resources (Display setting)
UpCodes allows you to collapse, by default, thumbnails of resources attached at the bottom of relevant code sections.
You can access display settings for Resources by clicking the Settings button next to the codebook name on the codebook page.
Here is a summary of the Resource options available:
Expanded:
This setting will enable thumbnails of attached resources to be displayed when viewing code sections.
Collapsed:
This setting will disable thumbnails of attached resources from being displayed when viewing code sections.
Referenced Section Previews & Hyperlinks
You can preview code content from sections cited in a code book and also jump to the cited section using an in-built hyperlink.
When you hover over a code section, you can view a short preview of the referenced section.
When you click on the code section, you are directed to the code section in the code viewer.
Definition Previews
Similar to reference section previews, you preview the code definition for a term contained within the code section, if a definition exists within the code book.
When you hover over a code section, you can view a short preview of the definition.
Code Reference Toolbar
There are tools available at a code chapter/section level that allow you to perform certain functions specific to that chapter/section. When you hover over a code section, the code section toolbar is visible to the right of the code section title.
Every chapter and section in every codebook hosted on UpCodes has its own unique URL (Uniform Resource Locator). To share a link to a chapter/section with an internal or external team member, simply click on the Copy link button in the code section toolbar. This will copy the code chapter/section to your clipboard, which you can then paste in your message to someone else.
Code Compare
This tool allows you to compare codes across code years and/or jurisdictions. The Code Compare tool is accessible via the code section toolbar, or the Code Compare button in the code book index on the left side of the screen.
Clicking Code Compare opens a window where you can select the two books you want to compare. The codebook on the left is the codebook that was being viewed when the tool was opened.
After selecting the code book/code year you want to compare, click Compare, and a side-by-side view of the two codebooks appears. Differences between the two code books are highlighted.
Code compare will continue running even as you continue to scroll through the code book.
You can click Stop Compare to stop comparing the codebooks. The viewer will revert back to the original codebook that was being viewed.
Click the Invert button between the two books before you click Stop Compare to make the second book the primary book that will be visible after you stop comparing.
You can print code chapters or sections by using the Print tool.
